The Hike That Kicked My Butt and Camp Kia Kima Update

Remember that 7 mile hike I posted about in May? You don't? Well, I do! Trust me - I ain't forgetting that anytime soon!!

Here are a few pictures from that day. Sorry I'm so late getting these up but I do have two kids and a husband (okay, 3 kids) to take care of.

Orienting the map...glad they knew what they were doing!

My view for most of the hike. Nice! Um, okay - maybe not.

They had to do this anytime we stopped. Not because we could have actually gotten lost - but just so they knew what they were doing. At this point, they had actually lost track of where we were on the map. Glad we just followed the paved path and not them!

Final rest.....

We're on the home stretch!!

I can't tell you how excited I was to see this sign!!

CAMP KIA KIMA
Austin is in Arkansas for the week at Boy Scout Camp. This is his first year to go. I still can't believe that he's old enough for something like this!
I just received an email from one of the leaders on the trip. He said everything is going great and the boys are having a blast!
They are awarding the boys with the cleanest camping/tent area with a slushee coupon for the Trading Post. Surprise, Surprise No shocker here, but Austin and his tent mate have yet to receive that award!
Hopefully that will change - or maybe not. He may just prefer to buy his own slushee!
I told Austin to write home, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. I'm sure he's not thinking about us at all - and that's fine. I'm just glad he's having fun!
I'll update if I hear from Austin or the leaders again, but I doubt I will. I'll just wait to hear all the stories when he gets back.
Until then......
