No. That's not my new favorite radio station. That was Jake's temp. at 9:30 Thursday night when we headed to the Pediatric ER at UMC. I was not too worried about the fever - Terry (poor thing) was pacing the floors. Fever never really bothers me, but Jake's eyes were glazed over , he was breathing 60 times a minute and his pulse was too fast for me to count. So I called the on-call nurse and she suggested we go to the ER since we had done all we could to get his fever down and it was only going up.

After dropping Austin off with GPH, we made our way to UMC. We checked in around 10:00 and got back home at 2:08.
IT. WAS. A. LONG. NIGHT.

Ears, chest and nose were all clear. Duh. I knew before we left the house that they would tell us it was viral - a cath and two blood draws later, that was the answer we got. His urine was clear and his white blood count (the second time - because they lost the first one) was 8,000. Anything over 10,000 for his age would have been considered high, so we were good there.

Luckily, when they stuck him the first time, they left the "needle" in his arm like an IV. They do that in case they end up admitting the patient, have to give meds through an IV, or like in our case draw more blood.

Jake is doing somewhat better now. His fever has not gone over 102 since noon on Friday but he's only taking small amounts (baby sips) of juice every now and then. Until 12:30 today he had on;y eaten a few goldfish crackers and a few dried cranberries.
He decided he wanted to eat when he spotted some leftover Sonic tater tots. We may have to go get more later.

Here's a picture of Jake right before he got his walking papers Thursday night Friday morning.

Again, that's not a radio station. That was Austin's temp at 8:30 last night. We're still not sure if he has/had a touch of what Jake has or if it was related to him getting a bit sun burned while swimming yesterday.

His temp broke sometime during the night and he's been fine ever since. I hope it stays that way because he leaves for Boy Scout camp (in Arkansas!) at 6:30 in the morning.
