Jake is growing and learning more and more each day. He knows most of his letters and colors with little help and has his own way of counting. He knows when he has two of something so doesn't bother counting. When whatever he's counting is higher than 3, he gets a little confused. He says the right amount of numbers, but not exactly in the right order. Oh well - he's 2, he'll get it. He knows his left from right and is doing pretty good with the potty thing - he even went #2 last week! (But most of you could probably care less about that.)
Jake loves trains, firetrucks, balloons, books and his Big Brother. He knows he has a Baby Sister (or Baby Allie) who lives in my tummy right now, but he has no idea how much she is going to rock his world in just a few short weeks. Boy is he in for it!
We had Jake's two-year check-up on Monday and he was such a big boy for "Dr. A-pie" (Dr. Phillippi) and even when he got his finger poked. We thought he was getting a shot and I even tried to prepare him for another poke (and promised another sucker) but luckily that shot didn't happen - although, he is MUCH better than his big brother when it comes to shots.
Jake is now 33 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds/8 ounces. Other than the tube in his left ear starting to fall out, everything else checked out okay. We don't go back for another year! Yeah right! Like that will happen!
I didn't want to just kill y'all with pictures, but I did want to include a "then and now" shot. Jake has changed so much in the past two years! Most would not guess that these two pictures are of the same kid.
Oh, how I miss that soft spiked black hair - but I wouldn't trade one second of the past two years (well, 12 really) for anything!
Now that I'm crying, I think I'll move on......
Just the four of us had a little party the night of Jake's Birthday. He didn't really get the whole Birthday thing that night but enjoyed the cake, "birthday fire" (candles) and LOVED the balloons that Ms Stacy, Peyton and Joshua brought over for him.
This past Saturday we had a little party with grandparents, cousins, an aunt and some friends from school. Since Santa was so good to Jake, all his friends brought a toy for us to donate to the Children's Hospital instead of bringing presents for Jake. Not having to keep Jake and the other kids still while we opened presents was actually kinda nice.
We took so many pictures at the party that I couldn't pick just a few to put on here so I made a video/slide show from our little family party and the real party. I even had to learn how to put it on YouTube to get it on here! Woohoo! Go me!
Sorry - I wanted to put some music with it but I couldn't figure that out. Maybe next time.
Enjoy!
