Today is Allie's 1st Birthday.
I can't believe it's here already.
I've been 'writing' her 1st birthday post in my head all week.
But, I can't type that post.
Not today.
Today, as most of you may already know, a tornado came through Clinton.
We are fine.
Our house is fine.
But others were not so lucky.
(But, fortunately, I've not heard of any deaths.)
I was in Pearl, at Mom's house, when the storm came through.
I didn't even realize it was going to be that bad.
Once it was all over, pictures were posted on the news.
I saw the pictures and knew where all the damaged areas were.
The worst hit area was "on the other side of town".
To a tornado, "the other side of town" is a stone's throw away.
On our way home, as I was looking at all the damage,
I realized how lucky we were.
Not just my family/house, but the whole city.
I realized just how close "the other side of town" is to our house.
How close the tornado's path was to Austin's school.
How close it was to one of the elementary schools where we know several of the students and teachers.
How close it was to the daycare where our sweet buddy Peyton was.
Things really could have been much worse.
So today, instead of tons of cute Allie pictures,
I'm asking y'all to pray.
Pray for the families that lost their homes -
that they're lives will be back to 'normal' soon.
And also, a prayer of thanksgiving -
that things were not any worse than they were.
Thanks.
