All About Austin!

Yesterday was Awards Day at Austin's school. Here's what he left with....We knew this one was coming...... But this? Seriously? Mr. Can't-Keep-His-Mouth-Shut? Just kidding, Austin.
Only two boys in the 5th grade received this next award. At the beginning of the year, four Cub Scouts from the whole 5th grade were chosen to be Flag Boys for the school year. They were responsible for putting up and taking down the flags each day. They were put in groups of two and rotated out each month. The other two boys (not Austin's group) were caught acting out in ways that others felt showed disrespect to the flag - so the privilege of Flag Boy was taken away.

Thank you, Austin and Joel, for acting as you should and for respecting Our Flag!

I joked about the Good Behavior Award, but this one was the real shocker. It even brought a little tear of joy/pride to my eyes.......

When the principal said she was handing out the last awards of the day, and told us the criteria for this award - I said, "Yeah right!", and started putting my camera away.

The President's Award
for
Outstanding Academic Excellence

Complete with a letter signed by Our President. He may not be my favorite President, but I can't tell you how happy I was to hear Austin's name called. Granted, Mr. President didn't hand pick these kids to receive this award, but that's not the point here.

Austin, we are so proud of you! Keep up the good work! We love you!
