12 Month Check-Up

Jake had his 12 month checkup on Monday. We were able to clear up some questions concerning his (unofficially diagnosed) asthma. We have done breathing treatments off and on since June. From now until summertime, he will have at least one (more if he's wheezing) a day. I hate that he has to do them, but he really his a trooper. I choose to do them at night after he goes to sleep. I just pick him up, do the treatment (that takes 20 minutes), and put him back in the bed. He has no idea anything is going on. If he has to have more during the day, those only last about eight minutes and he just sits in my lap. He'll even hold the mask to his face or the tube in his mouth all by himself! He's such a big boy! Buy it saddens me that he has done these for so long that he can practically do the treatment himself. :(
Two weeks ago, we went to the ENT and he suggested having Jake's adenoids removed. He said that would help with the frequent sinus infections. After talking to Jake's pedi, we decide to go ahead with the surgery, but we're also going to have PE Tubes placed while we're at it. He's had two (double) ear infections in the past four weeks. Why not kill two birds with one stone? Not that I would ever really kill a bird. Anyway.... Surgery is scheduled for Feb. 26th.
All other reports were good. The dr. said Jake is perfect! But we already knew that...both our boys are.

Here are Jake's current measurements:
Height: 29 3/4 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 22.6 pounds (50th percentile)
Head: 47 cm (75th percentile) -- he's gonna be smart just like his Mama

So to sum it all up he's short, fat, smart...and perfect! And we simply adore him!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment :) Sorry that Jake is having asthma troubles. He sure is a cutie! Glad to know not everyone thinks I'm an emotional wreck over Max's clothes.

Max never had asthma but due to chronic ear infections, constantly having to breathe through his mouth, and probable sleep apnea episodes (my opinion as a mother) he had his adenoids removed and tubes placed in his ears just before he turned 3. The following year the tonsils came out as well with the second set of tubes going in his ears. The third set of tubes just worked themselves out after about 9 months and his left ear immediately filled with fluid again.

Good luck on the surgery. Max bounced back very quickly after the adenoid surgery...tonsils took a few days to recover from.

Sorry about the long comment. I like your name too but I think yours is the one that is spelled wrong :) heehee
